  November 27, 2013: Pangasinan Jobs for ‘Yolanda’ Victims

San Fernando City, La Union — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) office in Region 1 announced yesterday the availability of at least 100 jobs in Pangasinan for victims of super-typhoon “Yolanda” (international name: “Haiyan”) in the Visayas.
DOLE Region 1 Director Grace Ursua and Kenwood Holdings (Group of Companies) in San Vicente, San Jacinto, Pangasinan have put together a project called “Tulong Trabaho Para Sa Mga Biktima ng Bagyong Yolanda” to provide jobs for displaced and jobless “Yolanda” victims.
“Beyond emergency relief, people from the devastated areas need assistance which will help them rebuild their lives and their communities. They need jobs, they need sources of income to get them back on track,” Ursua said.
Ursua said Kenwood Holdings’ San Vicente Dressing Plant (SVDP) is a contracted toll plant for San Miguel Foods poultry and meat business, aside from supplying chicken meat to big companies in Luzon will hire truck drivers and helpers, office personnel, checkers, quality control technicians, processing crew, cashiers and maintenance mechanics.
To be employed, applicants must be victims of typhoon “Yolanda” as certified by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) or the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Committee (NDRRMC); must be 18 years old and above; and must meet the educational requirement of the position applied for.
Ursua said “Tulong Trabaho” will have a team that will “conduct recruitment and selection at identified relocation sites, and those who will be hired will be transported for free by the company from the relocation site to their workplace (in Pangasinan).”
