Davao City – Thousands of jobless residents here and in the nearby provinces trooped the 2013 Kalayaan Job Fairs conducted at the various malls here on June 12.
The event was spearheaded by the Region-11 office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-11) in cooperation with other government line agencies and the business sector here.
Early Wednesday, the DOLE-11 staff was able to note 255 individuals who registered to find jobs abroad, and 1,199 jobseekers who wanted to find local jobs.
The DOLE-11 also noted that a week prior to the job fairs, more than 2,000 jobseekers have already registered at their office, hoping to find jobs here and abroad.
Last week, the DOLE has announced that a total of 14,425 jobs are available for the Kalayaan Job Fairs. Of the total available jobs, the DOLE regional office said 12,622 are for overseas, while 1,803 are local jobs.
Topping the list of available overseas jobs are for engineers and skilled workers with 450, general construction workers with 390, service crew with 378, factory workers with 323 and electrician with 301.
