Iloilo City, Iloilo — A total of 43,494 jobs were made available in three job fairs during the May 1 commemoration of Labor Day in Western Visayas.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-6) regional Ponciano Ligutom said the three simultaneous job fairs were held in Iloilo and Bacolod cities.
The majority of job openings – 37,087 - were for overseas employment and the remainder - 6,407 – were local employment opportunities.
For overseas employment, placement companies were looking for 3,943 domestic helpers willing to work in Hong Kong, Singapore and the Middle East.
The available overseas jobs were for nurses, technicians, drivers, carpenters, bulk carriers, waiters, cook, electricians, operators, welders, and pipe filter technicians.
For local employment, there were 1,235 job openings for customer service representatives in business process outsourcing (BPO) companies.
Other available local jobs were for sales clerks, real estate agents, drivers, salesmen, marketing professionals, cashiers, security guards, accountants, and mechanical operators.
