The country's BPO revenues will continue its upward momentum , reach reaching US$16 billion this year and generating jobs for 720,000 people,predicted outsourcing service provider Transcom Philippine's Country Manager Siva Subramaniam in yesterday's press tbriefing.
BPO revenues have risen steadily since 2009. Last year alone, companies generated $13.5 billion in revenues, slightly higher than the $13 billion target and 22-percent more than the previous year's $11-billion projection, he noted.
"Our outlook is similar to that of the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP)," the executive confirmed. "We expect to increase our employees by 35% by year-end 2013."
IBPAP forecasted the Philippine information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) and global in-house center (GIC) will generate US$16 billion in revenues at the end of 2013.
The IT-BPM and GIC industry is expected to further grow in the next three years with revenues reaching US$25 billion by 2016 while providing direct employment to 1.3 million Filipinos, and supporting 3.2 million indirect jobs.
"Transcom is bullish of the growth of the IT-BPM and GIC industry in the Philippines and we see more international clients as well as local customers," Subramaniam noted.
"The country's economy is growing and so is the need for support services. The BPO industry is well prepared to address this," he added.
Transcom acquired a Canadian owned company, Nucomm International on 2007 and built its first Philippines showcase center in Frontera Verde,Pasig City.
This was followed by several site built-outs, of which, the most recent one was the site along EDSA, Mandaluyong which started operating August last year. In addition, the company operates two facilities in Iloilo and Bacolod.
