KORONADAL CITY (PIA) - At least 500 "poor but deserving" students are getting summer jobs courtesy of the provincial government of South Cotabato and the Region-12 office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-12).
Provincial Public Employment Service Officer Zenaida Duron said the provincial government has allotted P 1.085 million for the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES).
The amount is intended to pay for the P 162 or 60 percent local government unit (LGU) share of the P 270 daily wage of the SPES beneficiary, while the remaining P 108 will be paid by DOLE-12.
Duron added that 333 of the student employees will be assigned to the various departments at the provincial government center here.
Others will be deployed to privately-owned establishments and offices that have partnered with the local government unit for this initiative.
Each SPES beneficiary will be working for 20 days, where they could earn P 3,240 from the provincial government, and P 2,160 from the DOLE-12.
