Sta. Rosa City, Laguna — More than 7,000 jobs here and abroad are open for the second leg of the 18-barangay series of 2014 Mayor Arlene B. Arcillas Jobs Fair Caravan that kicked off in Barangay Balibago here.
With 29 private companies and government institutions participating, the city’s labor department’s Public Employment Service Office and the local government target filling up job openings.
The Philippine National Police in the region, for example, has 548 slots open for non-uniformed personnel, which is part of the 7,400 NUP vacancies nationwide.
Supt. Pergentino N. Malabed, Jr., city police chief, encouraged aspiring applicants to join the PNP force.
This is a way of Police Community Relations Office to reach civilians and bring to them the law enforcement agency’s program, said Insp. Limuel June M. Sigua.
Already, 894 applicants have registered while 31 were hired on the spot by enlisting employers, Sta. Rosa City Chief Labor and Employment PESO officer Perla G. Lozada said yesterday.
The third leg of this job fair caravan will be held on February 24 at Barangay Labas, Lozada added.
This series of job fairs in one barangay at a time gives priority to city residents.
Companies and government agencies participating are Convergys, Teletech, Eyequest, Arjoys’, Southern Luzon Hospital, Sutherland Global Services, Entrepreneur Bank, and 7107 Islands Placement and Promotions.
