  January 6, 2014: Cash-For-Work Project Expanded

Cebu City, Cebu — The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7)’s cash-for-work (CFW) project for victims of the Bohol earthquake last October 15, 2013 and super typhoon Yolanda in November 8, 2013 in northern Cebu has been expanded to aid more victims of both calamities.
It can be recalled that the DSWD-7 had identified close to 14,000 CFW project beneficiaries in the rehabilitation stage, covering construction and repair of damaged houses, day care centers, local government units (LGUs), clearing of town halls, public market, health centers, and other landslide portion areas.
Earlier, DSWD-7 assistant regional director Nemia Antipala explained that the CFW project is under the DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), which was conceptualized to provide short-term intervention by providing temporary employment to calamity survivors.
In Bohol, about 7,231 beneficiaries were identified and covered in CFW project funds totaling P22,452 million. Project implementation has already started and will continue through to this year.
Each beneficiary is set to earn P207 per day for 15 working days.
Some 17 towns in Bohol were identified as recipient of the SLP with Inabanga having the most number of beneficiaries at 1,241 followed by Calape with 660.
Other town beneficiaries include Antequera, Balilihan, Buenavista, Carmen, Catigbian, Clarin, Corella, Cortes, Danao, Loon, Maribojoc, Saybayan, San Isidro, Sevilla and Tubigon.
Meanwhile, the CFW project for agricultural rehabilitation, which is slated to start this month in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA), has a P3.4 million budget and will accommodate 800 farmer-beneficiaries.
