December 7, 2013: DOLE Boosts ‘Yolanda’ Victims’ Hiring

San Fernando City, La Union – To facilitate the employment of “Yolanda” victims who have migrated to Region 1, the field offices of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Regional Office 1 have been mobilized to process applications and immediately refer them to local employers, particularly in Pangasinan.
The agency earlier announced that the San Vicente Dressing Plant (SVDP) in San Jacinto, Pangasinan, under its “Tulong Trabaho Para sa mga Biktima ng Bagyong Yolanda,” will provide jobs to typhoon victims who may want to work in the company.
The positions include processing crew/production workers (100 vacancies available), drivers and helpers, office personnel, checkers, quality control technicians, cashiers and maintenance mechanics.
DOLE 1 Regional Director Grace Ursua said aside from the SVDP, there are other companies that have already signified willingness to hire victims of the recent calamity.
“We are overwhelmed by the strong sense of social responsibility shown by the Kenwood Holdings and other local employers. Any employment assistance from them is very much welcome in light of the dire need of the victims to start anew,” Ursua said.
To be employed, applicants must prove they were victims of super-typhoon “Yolanda” as duly certified by the DSWD or NDRRMC; must be 18 years old and above; must be at least high school graduate or must have reached second year in college. Other requirements are NBI clearance and birth certificate issued by the NSO.
