  September 19, 2013: LGU to boost job generation

Tagum City – Business establishments was recently gathered by the local government unit (LGU) here for a forum in an effort to boost the public-private partnership (PPP) in the field of employment generation in the city.
The move, which is seen to strengthen local employment generation, was spearheaded by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
PESO chief Rogeneth Llanos said the activity is expected to encourage employers and business establishments to submit to the PESO office regular updates regarding their hiring lists.
The PESO office will immediately disseminate such lists and job opportunities to the public that will allow local jobseekers to find jobs.
Llanos added that the move is in line with the provision of City Ordinance No. 110, Series of 2010, which requires all business establishments in the city to submit a list of job vacancies.
In another development, the Region-11 office of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA-11) recently hosted a two-day review on the details of the proposed National Spatial Strategy (NSS) at a hotel in Davao City.
The activity was designed to generate recommendations to enhance the NSS, which is seen as an essential approach of the updated National Physical Framework Plan.
The NSS, NEDA-11 said, will also serve as the basis for the preparation of the National Transport Plan (NTP).
NEDA-11 Director Maria Lourdes Lim said the gathering was joined in by some 43 participants from the NEDA central office and Mindanao regions, as well as from the regional planning and development office of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
Lim added that discussions on the updates on the Philippine Development Plan (PDP), the Public Investment Program (PIP), and the Regional Development Plans (RDPs) were also facilitated during the gathering, along with topics on the plans to strengthen linkages between the PDP and the RDPs.
The significant provisions under the Executive Order (EO) No. 257 that mandates for the creation of Regional Development Committees (RDCs) under the NEDA Board, together with Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR), was also discussed during the second day of the event.
