General Santos City – Local guidance counselors in Tacurong City have organized themselves to help the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the local government regarding the career advocacy campaign among high school students to deal with the perennial problems of unemployment and skills mismatch in the labor market.
The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the Tacurong government called a meeting among guidance counselors from public and private schools that held the election of their new set of officers who will take charge of the career advocacy campaign.
Guidance Counselor Mila Pernato of the Notre Dame Siena was elected as president of the newly organized Tacurong City Network of Career Guidance Advocates (TCNCGA).
DOLE Sultan Kudarat provincial officer Arlene Bisnon explained the need for a convergence among stakeholders, especially in the conduct of career advocacy for students both in public and private secondary schools.
