  June 9, 2013: Kalayaan Job Fair all set on 115th Independence day- DOLE

More than 65,000 local, overseas, and government jobs for various skills are up for grabs on Independence Day as the Department of Labor and Employment - National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) conducts the yearly Kalayaan Job Fair as centerpiece event of the DOLE in celebration of the 115th anniversary of the Philippine independence on 12 June.
"The celebration of the nation's independence is a timely occasion for the DOLE to unchain the unemployment plight in Metro Manila as we facilitate workers' and employers' search for jobs and skills through the job fair. We are exhausting all means to provide a vast array of productive and matched job opportunities for everyone," Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz said.
Anchored on the theme, "Kalayaan: Ambagan Tungo Sa Malawakang Kaunlaran," the DOLE Kalayaan Job Fair shall be held at the South Drive of Luneta Park in Manila on 12 June from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
The joint efforts of DOLE, its partner agencies and the private sector affirm the heightened partnership among government, industry, and other sectors in generating more job opportunities for all jobseekers," Baldoz said, citing the roster of 85 local employers and 25 licensed recruitment agencies that will take part in the job fair.
The DOLE and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) shall also accept job applications for the vacancies in their respective offices. Other government agencies such as the Philippine National Police will also open its doors with 9,000 job vacancies. Likewise, the Armed Forces of the Philippines shall also welcome job applicants for posts in the Philippine Navy and the Philippine Marines.
Job opportunities from the emerging industries, particularly on cyber services; hotel and restaurant/tourism; health and wellness; wholesale and retail trade; construction; automotive; banking; insurance; logistics; and finance and real state shall be open for all jobseekers at the Luneta Park grounds.
To make it easier and faster for jobseeker to search--and--find jobs at the Kalayaan Job Fair, the DOLE is bringing at he fair at array pre-employment facilitation services--for free.
Skills demonstration and services of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) shall be present during the job fair to provide free haircut and massage services. There will also be a registration booth for interested students who would like to avail of TESDA's Technical Vocational (Tech-Voc) Scholarships. Likewise, SMART Libreng Tawag and services for the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration shall also be made available to all jobseekers.
"We expect a lot of job seekers to flock our venue and we really hope that we will serve as a channel in enabling them to have freedom from poverty, underemployment and unemployment through job facilitation," DOLE-NCR Director Alan Macaraya said.
The DOLE is leading the 2013 Kalayaan Job Fair with outstanding support from its partners namely, Smart Communications, Inc; Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Inc; PESO Association of Metro Manila; Philippine Association of Local Service Contractors; Philippine Daily Inquirer; Philippine Information Agency; PESO Association of Metro Manila and Banco De Oro.
