"May 1 is fast approaching and DOLE-NCR is all set for the Labor Day Jobs Fair. Sixteen SM Malls all over Metro Manila will serve as venue for this big event and and we expect thousands of jobseekers to flock the venues," says Regional Directory Atty. Alan M. Macaraya.
This year marks the 11th Labor Day celebration, bearing the theme "Manggagawang Pipino: Handa sa Hamon ng Makabagong Panahon."
"We are bringing job opportunities closer and more accessible to the job seekers. Job applicants seeking local employment may proceed to SM Fairview, SM Novaliches, SM Sta. Mesa, SM San Lazaro, SM Mega Mall, SM Pasig, SM Marikina, SM South Mall, SM Las Pinas, SM Bicutan, and SM Muntinlupa. While the following participating SM Malls will cater to job applicants for both local and overseas employment: SM North EDSA, SM Manila, SM Valenzuela, SM Sucat, SM Mall of Asia. Likewise, those who seek overseas sea-based employment may go to SM Manila to facilitate their applications. The jobs fair will be on Wednesday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.," says Regional Directory Atty. Macaraya.
A total of 619 local employers and 37 overseas licensed employment agencies will take part in the event with about 171,000 local and overseas job vacancies available for job seekers. Job vacancies available per industry are from cyber services, hotel and restaurant/ tourism, health and wellness, wholesale and retail trade, construction, automotive, banking, insurance, logistics, finance, real estate, among others. Also pre-employment documentation and advisory services will be provided by the following agencies: NBI, BIR, PRC, Pag-IBIG, NSO, PhilHealth, and the Philippine Postal Corp. in SM North EDSA and SM Megamall for job applicants who would to secure their SSS number. Job applicants in SM North EDSA and SM Manila can also enjoy the opportunity of placing IDD Calls through the SMART Libreng Tawag. Budget conscious shoppers can grab the opportunity to great buys as SM Malls will have the Labor Day Sale in commemoration of his event.
"We advise job applicants to be ready with their documents. They should bring their resume/biodata, copy of diploma, copy of transcript of records, clearances such as police/NBI clearance, employment certificates if any, ID pictures, and other pertinent documents to avoid any hassle during their job applications," says Regional Director Atty. Macaraya.
This event is made possible in partnership with SM Prime Holdings, SM Supermalls, Smart Communications, Inc., Centrex, the PESO Association of Metro Manila (PAMM). Philippine Association of Local Service Contractors (PALSCON), Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Inc. (FFCCCII), the Phillipine Daily Inquirer (PDI), BDO Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA).
