In an effort to fill the shortage of manpower for the country's business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, Legazpi City has vowed to enhance the skills of its residents. Mayor Geraldine Rosal said the local government plans to improve the current roster of skills the residents have in order to fill the need of business processing companies on the assessments made by the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP). The BPAP's assessment states the shortage of employees continues to rise despite the country's efforts to produce 500,000 college graduates annually. Rosal revealed that the city government is coordinating with the regional office of the Commission on Higher Education in doing an inventory of these graduates as well as previous graduates for possible enlistment with the city's current pool of BPO talents who are already gainfully employed locally.
