Up to 14,453 residents have benefited from job fairs sponsored by Caloocan City Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri in 2012.
Of this, 7,415 male while 7,038 female applicants were hired through the mega job fairs and were given assistance by the Labor and Industrial Relations Office (LIRO). The job fairs were held last February 15; February 22; May 2 and May 9; and November 26 and Nov. 28.
Echiverri has pushed for employment generation one of the priorities of his ad,ministration since he became mayor in 2004.
Applicants were hired as accountant, secretary, sales clerk, welder, waiter/waitress, cook, janitor/janitress, engineer, encoder, machine operator, service crew, kitchen staff, call center agent, graphic artist, promodizer, automotive mechanic, stockman, factory worker, driver and domestic helper.
Since 2004, some 154,640 applicants have been hired in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-CAMANAVA) and the LIRO.
Echiverri has vowed to provide more jobs to city residents this year. “Sa gayon ay tuluyan nang mabawasan ang mahihirap na pamilya sa pinamamahalaan nitong lungsod,” Mayor Recom added.
