President Benigno S. Aquino III yesterday hailed the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for launching programs that jibed with his administration’s thrust to provide more job opportunities.
“TESDA is concrete testament that we are reforming the old system. Through the leadership of Secretary Joel Villanueva, TESDA has given utmost public service so that more Filipinos would be given the opportunity to rise from poverty and improve their livelihood,” Aquino said.
He said he was “confident in the leadership of Secretary Villanueva that there will be no abuse of power in TESDA: No one outwits other people and no money goes to irrelevant program.”
Aquino yesterday led the launching of the TESDA Specialista Technopreneurship Program (TSTP), in which TESDA graduates would be assisted in putting up their own business.
He said beneficiaries of the program should not waste the opportunity given them. “Be examples of employees who have compassion for fellow Filipinos, in being productive and refined at work. You should introduce excellence and professionalism among certified Filipinos,” Aquino said.
The President lauded TESDA’s ISO Certification in Program Registration and Assessment and Certification. He said this is proof of TESDA’s effectivity and integrity in achieving its mandate, adding that TESDA was able to reach its target despite P2.4 billion in loans from the previous administration.
He also said the Aquino administration continues to invest in generating more jobs for Filipinos.
