About 10,000 workers from disaster-hit areas benefitted from the government’s emergency employment and livelihood assistance program last year, the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) said yesterday. Citing a consolidated yearend report from DoLE’s regional offices, Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said in a statement that DoLE released some P27.6 million for its DoLE Integrated Livelihood Assistance Program and Emergency Employment Program in six regions, mostly affected by typhoons. “DoLE assisted 9,719 workers in Region 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and the National Capital Region during the year (2011),” Baldoz said.
