  December 29, 2011: Improved productivity in workplace pushed

Cebu City, Cebu - Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz visited Cebu and, in a speaking engagement here, urged Cebuano entrepreneurs to improve productivity measures in their workplace to be able to compete globally.
"Productivity growth is needed to compete successfully in a more integrated economy," Baldoz said during the 25th anniversary celebration of Wellmade Motors and Development Corporation.
Baldoz stressed the important roles of productivity in attaining success in business operations as, she said, "it will not only help in achieving business goals but also push competitiveness among the workers. a worker who feels his rights are protected is more committed and dedicated to advance organizational goals. He is more cooperative, more disciplined, more safety- and health-conscious and more passionate to further improve his craft."
On the same occasion, the Baldoz also announced ongoing efforts by the government to make the country a choice investment location, citing rating improvements in terms of competitiveness, among other factors.
"We are now ranked 75th of 142 countries assessed in terms of workers competitiveness and that is 10 notches higher in such rankings compared to last year," she said.
Baldoz said the country's labor-market efficiency pillar has also improved while getting positive ratings in labor-employee relationship.
Shae lauded Wellmade Motors and Development Corp., in its continuing productivity programs which bagged for them Productivity Olympics award in 2009.
