Maasin City, Southern Leyte (PIA) – The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) held an orientation on basic rights and benefits of security guards at Casa Ampil, this city last Saturday. Attending were security agencies in the city and province along with business firms hiring the agencies. DoLe provincial field officer Fe Norma Valuis said conflicts arise as to who pays benefits of security guards –the agency or the company that hired the agency? Valuis clarified that the law on sub-contracting provides that when a security guard agency fails to pay its obligations to its personnel, the principals are obliged to pay such benefits.
